Sawsan Jamil Hassan is a Syrian novelist and physician born in Latakia in 1957 and currently based in Berlin she worked for many years in the Syrian health sector before dedicating herself to writing and has become one of the notable voices in contemporary Arab narrative her works include the novels Harir al Zulmah Alf Laylah fi Laylah Al Nabbashoun Qamees al Layl Khanat al Reeh and Ismi Zayzafon and she also writes cultural and political articles for various Arab newspapers and magazines
