Moustafa Mounir

  • Moustafa Mounir is an Egyptian novelist whose work explores the social and psychological wounds of contemporary life, with a particular focus on women’s experiences, marginalised communities and those living on the fringes. His style is marked by a dense, poetic language and a symbolic imagination that at times borders on mysticism and dystopia, turning his fictional worlds into a stark mirror of a turbulent present. In his latest novel, “Al-Tubaweya: Theology of Women and Psalms of Sorrow”, published by Al Rabee Publishing in 2025, Mounir continues his project of interrogating the idea of utopia and revealing the pain and muted cries that lie behind it.
