Mostafa Mastoor

  • Mostafa Mastoor is an Iranian novelist, translator and researcher, born in 1964 in the city of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran. He graduated in civil engineering from Shahid Chamran University in 1988, and later obtained a master’s degree in Persian literature before dedicating himself more deeply to writing and literary research. His breakthrough novel “Kiss the Loving Face of God” became one of the most successful contemporary Iranian novels, winning the Golden Pen Prize, being selected as Novel of the Year in Iran and going through numerous reprints. He has also written acclaimed works such as “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands”, which won the Isfahan Literary Prize. Mastoor is known for his lyrical language, his deep existential questions and his role in introducing the works of American writer Raymond Carver to Iranian readers through his translations.
