Bahram Sadeghi

  • Bahram Sadeghi (1937–1985) was a prominent Iranian modernist fiction writer and poet, widely regarded as one of the most important short story writers of modern Persian literature. Born in Najafabad, Isfahan province, he is often associated with the second generation of Iranian short story writers.
  • Sadeghi became known for his experimental, surreal, and psychologically intense narratives. His characters—often failed government employees and frustrated intellectuals—are consumed by anxiety, fear, and a pervasive sense of absurdity. His most celebrated work is the novella “Malakut” (The Heavenly Kingdom), along with the collection “Sangar o Qomqomehā-ye Khāli” (The Trench and the Empty Canteens) and several influential short stories that helped shape modern Persian fiction.
